Initiative to ensure legacy of South African Lipizzaners
The South African Lipizzaners display the harmonious connection between a horse and their rider through carefully choreographed routines set to music, the performance centre at Mistico Equestrian Centre is one of three places worldwide this can still be seen. The Lipizzaners are a Non-Profit Organisation; the tireless efforts of its supporters are what keeps the now 74-year legacy of the Lipizzaner horse in South Africa alive. It was these very efforts that lead to the creation of the Legacy Wines collection, a collection of six South African wines to aid in the future of the South African Lipizzaners.

The Legacy Wine collection boasts an impressive collection of six wines from farms such as Kanu Wines, Boland Kelders and Anura Wines, and Allée Bleue, consisting of two white wines a rosé and three red wines ensuring that there is something for everyone to enjoy. The collection boasts an extensive list of appellation areas, allowing you to enjoy wines from all of South Africa’s award-winning Vineyards in a range of geographical areas. Each wine has been named in honour of one of the six founding stallions used to establish the Lipizzan breed. During the 16th century the stallions Conversano, Favory, Maestoso, Neapolitano, Pluto and Siglavy contributed their traits such as strength, endurance, and courage leading to the South African Lipizzaner as we know today.

The South African Lipizzaners continue to go through times of hardship, battling to continue the legacy left behind by these iconic horses. The Legacy wine collection is an initiative to ensure the continuation of the legacy of these six horses carry on in the South African Lipizzaners, all proceeds from wine sales go directly to the care and preservation of the South African Lipizzaner. The Legacy collection celebrates not only the Lipizzaners history but ensures their Legacy continues through the celebration of the fine vinification in South Africa.
